The public were very active in the 1980s opposing the risk of nuclear armageddon – and they definitely achieved results – with significant nuclear detente achieved on the international stage. Nowadays the risk has increased again – alarmingly – with the development of hypersonic missiles and autonomous weapons systems. Renewed public vigour could push for mulilateral bans on their development and use. This unique film from the early 80s demonstrates the public commitment required.
